Help for the Holidays

Assisting with the holidays in 2021

Due to the continued presence of COVID-19, UMD is having to adapt how we make the holidays merry for shelter residents and others in need. One way you can brighten the season for struggling households is by donating items to our food pantry. We are collecting food for Thanksgiving and the holiday season.

While we are unable to hold a special holiday gathering for shelter residents this year, we will be filling wishlists and delivering gifts. You can purchase practical items that shelter residents need by visiting our Share the Merry 2021 wishlist at Amazon.com. There are groups providing gift cards to help us purchase presents for single adults, toys for families and the community, goodie bags, and a meal before or after Christmas. In addition, all shelter residents who receive a gift will receive a $10 gift card from Walmart or Dollar Tree. You are welcome to contribute such a gift card if you like.

Finally, please consider giving the gift of food, shelter and a future by making a financial donation to UMD.

If you have questions about the holidays at UMD, read our Holiday FAQs and/or please contact:

Thank you for remembering neighbors in need at the holidays and throughout the year!
